Sayın Simen Hanım,

Anlayışlı makaleniz için teşekkür ederiz..

Although I was a surgical pathologist for many years, thanks to the gift of OCD, I became a quasi-psychiatrist, although others cared for me. It was a matter, literally , of life and death.

Four of your 5 points are right on; one is based on an urban myth.

RIGHT ON:

1. Evergreen learning

Ancora Imparo! And.yet I learn.

An aged Michelangelo

2. Sleep

3. Love and emotional social connections

4. Diet and maintaining general health. Diet thru

calorie restriction is one of two medically

proven methods of life-extension. The other

is the anti-type2-diabetic drug, metformin.

In error, IMNSHO, is the admonition to drink more water. There is no published medical article that Americans are chronically underhydrated. Our thirst mechanism is exquisite and we respond to it quickly. Its close connection to the brain is shown y the slacking of thirst just by drinking water, long before it has been absorbed; rather incredible, I would say.

I would like to add some concepts to your excellent list:

1. The brain thrives on joy, play, laughter and optimism. Cultivate these magic plants in your cerebral garden, please.

2. The use of nootropics - These are supplements that improve brain function. In the over 2 years I have used them, the results have been impressive. I have never been sharper, typos notwithstanding. I have included my email should anyone desire my list of carefully (my modesty overwhelms me, lol!) curated supplements.

3. For older men - Most of men go thru andropause, with declining Testosterone levels. This leads to ill-effects on brain, heart, muscle and bone health. Frailty, the hallmark of deep aging, can be avoided with T replacement. Caveat: Please always get frequent PSA to exclude developing Prostatic Cancer which usually is driven by T.

Dem's my thoughts; sticking to 'em.

Thank you for a typically good Sinem article,
